We stipped down the car by removing all the chrome, front end and trunk lid. Since we will be installing a new interior, the interior was also removed. Everything was cleaned and degreased. Once we started stripping the paint it became obvious that we needed to replace at least part of the rear quarters. Quarters were cut out and new ones fitted.
The quarters were installed, bodywork completed, and car was sprayed with poly primer.
Poly primer was sanded. DeBeer HS urethane primer was applied, sanded, and reapplied three times for straightness.
We applied 999VP epoxy sealer in red and followed with four coats of 840 Urethane in Boyd Red.
Paint was cut and buffed to produce a smooth surface.
Found a few more small patches of rust that had been poorly repaired before.
New patches were cut and placed.
Completed bodywork, z-chrome, and first primer coat.
Three primer coats were applied and blocked. Paint was applied and polished. Front end was reinstalled with a fresh coat of black paint in the engine compartment.
Trunk was speckled using bedliner instead of the spray can crap that never lasts. Headliner and rear seat was installed.
Finished up the interior. Started installing brightwork. Finished polishing the paint.
Project Complete.
